Fired to Perfection: Kiln Guide for Fused Glass Artists
I’ve been fusing glass since 2010, when I founded MoltenWorks - a company built on a passion for creativity and making art accessible. Since then, I’ve opened a dedicated commercial studio where thousands of people come each year to explore glass fusing; last year alone, over 14,000 creators came through our doors.
With our kilns firing daily, I’ve spent countless hours observing, experimenting, and learning, often through trial and error. That hands-on experience has shaped how I approach teaching others: with honesty, curiosity, and a deep respect for the glass itself.
Many people still don’t know what fused glass is, and I love being part of changing that, one spark of inspiration at a time. I love to share my knowledge with tutorials on my Youtube Channel @Kevin_the_fuser, and this guide is designed to help you understand your kiln and start turning your designs into reality. I go over my tried and true kiln schedules for full, contour, and tack fusing, along with slumping and draping schedules that can be applied to multiple differnet molds. I've also included my email, fusing@moltenworks.com, so that you can reach out to me directly with your questions.
I’ll be releasing a more advanced supplement soon, so stay tuned for deeper dives into technique, project planning, and creative experimentation.
Enjoy the journey, and welcome to the world of fused glass.
